Goodreads asked Jonathan Butcher:

How do you get inspired to write?

Jonathan Butcher There are three events which occurred in my life which made me believe that I could write:
- my sister wrote a kids' book as part of her high-school creative writing course and everyone who read it loved it. (We are looking into having this published)
- one of my brothers picked up one of his high-school creative writing assignments and started reading it "narrator voice"; he made it sound so professional, even though he was just fooling around, that it struck me: "this is how it happens - someone just has to put some confidence behind an idea"
- my colleague and now co-author, Leila Heidari-Faroughi, found out about my interest in writing and expressed her own interest, then invited me to collaborate on a project idea she had been thinking about for a while

As for current inspiration, it is in the world all around us. A lot of my favorite movies are actually screen-plays of novels; the ideas for those novels came from their authors' experiences somewhere in life
