Anne is 14 and I would recommend this to girls 13+ and boys old enough to be mature about reading about a discussion of male and female body parts. There are NO illustrations of body parts except bare male butts (bathing) and a neutered cat lying on his back.

I’d say it’s appropriate for middle schoolers and up. But always bear in mind you and or your reader are unique, and two people of the same age can be at different reading levels, or be comfortable with reading different things.

i’d say 11/12 years and older because it’s sometimes a little hard to read in terms of language, but other than that the “parts about sex and such” are really not that big and just from the perspective of a 14 year old girl discovering it herself so it’s probably even good to read it to know you’re not alone. besides it mostly talkes about what it’s like for her during WW2 and it teaches you a lot about the holocaust which is important history to know about.

None of these answers bothered pointing out that there are graphic descriptions of private parts in this novel, yet, for some reason. Make up your mind according to that.

I would say 10-12+ for girls, maybe a bit older for boys. It really depends on how mature the reader is both mentally and physically.

I'd say grade 5 and up is good. I read the regular diary of Anne Frank when I was in grade 5 (or 6), and I think it's important to start teaching kids about the Holocaust at a young age.
