Anybody have any suggestions for fun activities for a child/parent book club? I have the race that Leslie wins for a Reader's Theater and some quotes to hand out and read and guess the speaker of. Anyone have any other suggestions?

have a relay race:
you could do things like: running (for the school races), cross a plank (for the bridge), dress or fix a barbie (for his sister's toy), if available: swing on a rope or swing-set (for swinging into Terabithia)(You could even make them put on a coat & tuck in a stuffed-animal dog. If you don't have anything to swing on, you could just do the coat & dog and have them jump over a rope arranged in a wavy line or a picture of a river), shoot an arrow / knock over a target with a stick or toy sword (for fighting to defend Terabithia)(You could have a picture of a monster on the target.), pour a glass of "milk" (I'd use an individual-size carton of milk filled with water.)(for his chore of milking the cow),

draw / paint
suggestions could include: favorite scenes/characters/locations of the book, their own imaginary world/creatures, cartoons of animals in funny situations (like Jess liked to draw), a friend or family member (living or who has passed away)

make a wreath (like Jess did as a memorial for Leslie)

Have the parent and child talk about issues they could work on in their family & things they can do together to build the relationships in their family. (Jess was unhappy about having to do chores when his sisters didn't. He chose to play with his sisters and make them happy.) You could give them a hand-out to write on that says something like, "I can strengthen my family by:"

If you have prizes for games or snacks for the event, you could use foods mentioned in the book. (Twinkies, crackers (what else did they take to Terabithia?), pancakes/waffles (which did his mom make him?), milk (since he always had to milk the cow--ha, ha), I can't remember if there was anything else...(less)
