More specifically, the important impact that it has on Jess's life in the end of the book. The fact that Leslie is such a positive presence is the reason Jess is able to cope with the horrible troubles he is faced with in the end of the book. Also, as a whole, this book doesn't have any one dimensional characters. For example Jess's teacher and bully both have their own hardships that they are also trying to overcome. (less)
Mia Chadwick I read it and there is also a movie. It is kinda sad but overall an amazing book. In the begining it can be slow and boring but keep reading.

Our first book was Holes by Louis Sachar; our second book was the graphic novel Death Note by Tsugumi Ohba; and this summer we are reading Bridge to Terabithia. I choose books that the boys would find interesting based on their ages and interests and I always make sure there is a movie to accompany the book. We gather and watch the movie, then over a meal we discuss the book, the movie and what differences occur between the two. it is always fun and they have a way of surprising me with their insights!
