Although I once had a chimney cake made on an open fire and it was heaven. But you need serious equipment for that. So people mostly stick a fatty bacon on a stick and drip the fat on a toast and once the bacon is fried, they eat it with the fatty toast. Another campfire thing which is very popular is cooking very meaty soups and stews in a cauldron on a fire.
My country unsurprisingly has an very high percentage of overweight people as well. (less)
