My upcoming book The Song of the Swan is a loose retelling of Swan Lake, inspired by the character of Odile, also known as the black swan. I was interested in exploring why an evil sorcerer might curse people to become swans, and why Odile would appear at such a pivotal moment in the Swan Lake story.
