Shelby I literally just finished the book and had to see what others were saying about the ending. I read the last paragraph at least 5 times and I’m still not sure what to think about it. The line “my next endless breath” and the black ribbon to me makes it seem like she died in child birth. But then there’s also the last line where Ryker will either take her or walk through her. But honestly I think Kim Liggett was genius in ending the book this way. To make us feel hope which was in essence the point of the entire book. Hope that Tierney didn’t die. Hope that she did die and gets to be with Ryker again. Hope that her daughter will be the change. There’s so much hope in the last sentence of the book and it was the perfect way to end The Grace Year.

Stephanie Yes, I believe Tierney died from child birth. Her mother released her ribbon, and she saw Ryker waiting for her on the path.

Olga Eras Seems she died in childbirth. They suggest that many women don't survive, especially when the child is breech.
