Comprehension and emotional maturity are not about age, each human is different, development stages can give a general sketching of how people mature but it varies and can give a lot of surprises. It's not that it *has to be re-read at different life stages, it's a book that draws you in, it's such a tender, empathic, compassionate, passionate, visceral, hopeful, moving and sociological reading that one wants to come back to it. Stimulating empathy is a much needed aid in the human world, the younger the better, so much it raptures, entrances and aches to be alive. If more humans become sentient and healthy the world would be spared of so much cruelty.(less)
