Kids would love the book as a story but won't understand the meaning behind it, meanwhile young adults and older adults would read it as a philosophical book.
Speaking from experience I once read this book when I was 12, didn't really like it since I wasn't that young for a fairy tail kinda book and wasn't old enough to understand the morals. Now at age 18 I read it for a second time and I loved it, as I understood the more philosophical side.(less)
