Goodreads asked V.R. McCoy:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

V.R. McCoy I've only experienced writer's block once. I was working on a manuscript and wrote myself into a corner. I usually construct an outline before I begin, but once I get going, I'll new ideas as I'm writing or typing, yes, I do both when composing. I didn't even know it was writer's block until a couple of days passed and I realized that I'm wasn't taking a break from the manuscript to get fresh ideas, it was a wrap! What I did in this occassions was utilize the research that I did on the manuscript and went in a totally different direction, new title, characters, the works. I place a lot of time in doing research for my novels and it seemed like a waste to just toss it. I was pleased with the new direction. Sometimes it's best to take a step back and re-evaluate where you're going.
