As a lover of all of your books, I also read most of the books that you recommend as well (and like them very much). I am wondering if you have read these books which I treasure: Winter’s Tale by Mark Helprin, and the Master and Commander series by Patrick O’Brian? The first is a complex fantasy; the second may be well outside your area of interest as it concerns the British navy during the Napoleonic Wars .

I read the first O'Brian; possibly I did not get far enough into the series to collect the rewards of character development. I read the Hornblower books in my youth. I've heard of but not read the Helprin. (My reading is way down these days due to eye issues, but I'm finding ways around.)

I know SFWA ruled that Gentleman Jole and the Red Queen was eligible for last year's Nebula award because of the ARC sale in 2015. Has there been a ruling regarding Hugo eligibility for this coming year? The voting period will soon be upon us and I'd really like to know.

"As far as medical aid goes, I'd think Miles would be a lot more comfortable going to Beta Colony. We don't actually know that he hasn't.." Interesting. I know someone with ALS, luckily the slow kind. I've wondered how profoundly it would affect him emotionally if it were not just arrested but reversed after 20 years of fighting & dealing with a slowly progressing debilitation. Conflicted, redefining himself at 65?

In this past year I've discovered audio books. Now I own your entire collection in three formats! (Hoarder, much?) I've found that some books really shine when read aloud, no matter who reads them, some shine when presented by a great narrator and some have all their deficits glaringly exposed by being voiced aloud. (Yours shine. Like the sun!) What has been your experience as author and a listener with audio format?
