Goodreads asked Ellis Lucas:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Ellis Lucas My advice would be, change your status from "Aspiring" to "Author!" Come what may, the writing was the easiest part for me. Learning who and what to avoid when it came to editing, marketing, and cover design, back cover bios, and of course, publishing my books, I would say was an accidental train wreck at first. Howbeit, when I finally realized if I couldn't get a generous traditional publishing deal that wasn't a bad thing. Where I ran into the most significant challenges was my experiences with a couple of self-publishing and even hybrid publishing houses. And while there is one that comes to mind in South Carolina that is a legit company, if you're going to self-publish your book, I recommend finding some freelance experts in all the above categories and do it yourself and retain all control of the royalties on a monthly bases rather than pay a premium for the above-mentioned services to a self-publishing company and get paid every three months. However, those are just things I have learned and I highly recommend you study the Amazon and other platforms for your self to make your decision, and I would always be more than happy to help in any I could. But by all means, change your status a.s.a.p. from aspiring to the author, you'll be so glad you did!

Thank you and I sure hope that was helpful
