I don't have a question, but I want to thank you for writing When We Believed in Mermaids. My family life growing up was also unhealthy like the characters. In the end I'm not sure if I loved the book or hated what it made me feel. Regardless, this story affected me in every way. Also, have you been to New Zealand?

Barbara O'Neal I’m sorry Mermaids dredged things up, but sometimes that’s the purpose of a story. And yes, I’ve been to New Zealand several times and love it very much.
