I come from South America, and the cardinal we have here looks a little different (although they both have the red heads and a similar beak). The thing is, though, the one pictured in the cover is actually a male Northern Cardinal, as females have greyish feathers. I've been getting into birdwatching lately and realised most of the birds I know are males, because we tend to consider them the "standard". What a surprise, right? It's usually the males that are colourful and all (think of peacocks). I hope this isn't sounding like a rant, or anything like it. I just wanted to share this piece of information. I think the art is lovely, the choice was great and I'm loving the book (almost at the end now). (less)
