For the collected novella versions of Penric, do they include the original covers? Having seen a couple of Dan Dos Santos’s amazing covers, now I want them. But I am not an ebook guy, and missed all the previous editions. I have been waiting for them to come out in relatively affordable collected editions as Mass market pb or Trade pb.

Lois McMaster Bujold Each publisher buys their own covers from the artists. So there won't be any swapping around of art on the assorted editions in this case, as, from Subterranean to Baen. (Blackstone Audiobooks sometimes rebuys cover art for their editions, though, if sometimes not.)

I would expect Baen would use the same art on their ensuing paperback editions as on their hardcovers coming out in 2020.

You have in the past mentioned that you often decide the theme of a book by asking yourself, what is the worst possible thing I can do to my main character and how will they react. I can see that in your writing but it also seems to me that an underlying theme of most of your books is that damaged people are drawn to damaged people. Or might it be rather that damage people might be more interesting to write?

I'm interested that many of your characters in one book may turn up as the main character in another book. (Ivan Vorpatril, Ista, Mark Vorkosign). Some do not. (Aral, Kareen Koudelka.) How do you decide that "Ista needs a book", but Aral doesn't?
