Mary asked this question about The Ruin (Cormac Reilly, #1):
At the end of the book, the evil old woman* dies by carbon monoxide poisoning. It is considered an accident, but I wonder whether the author was hinting that someone killed her, given the other deaths in the book. Like, the caregiver, Tom, or Maude? Did anyone else get this vibe? *Sorry, I can't remember Her name. I listened on audiobook andcan’t really thumb through to find it.

But she wasn't there and nothing more was said about it. Unlike Tana French, Dervla McTiernan isn't the type who leaves unanswered questions hanging so I would be inclined to think that the death really was accidental.(less)
