How does it compare to the movie? It's a favorite of my oldest niece (now "almost 6") but I wasn't enamored with it.

First of all book has a better sense of humor,a longer story line and the character have more depth to them. Although the movie is better in the sense of animation, there is more to a movie than animation. But the book has almost everything that reader like to see in a book. Also its a part of a trilogy with two more books to add to the current story.(less)
