Is the book Into That Darkness: An Examination of Conscience that same book as Into That Darkness: From Mercy Killing to Mass Murder? I am looking to read Into that darkness but what is the correct version (which one is older vs which one is newer) or are they the same?

Jen Mills I'm not sure. Into That Darkness: An Examination of Conscience is Gitta Sereny's biography/exploration of Franz Stangl, the commandant of Treblinka, based on interviews with him and his family. Into That Darkness: From Mercy Killing to Mass Murder might be an earlier edition, because in the book Sereny does describe Stangl's experience in the T4 gassings/ "euthanasia" of disabled people before he was appointed to Treblinka. I'm not an expert, but the impression I got from reading Into That Darkness: An Examination of Conscience was that a lot of the staff who were involved in the so-called mercy killings of disabled people were transferred to work on the "Final Solution."
