Goodreads asked Pam Records:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Pam Records I can work on writing anywhere anytime. I especially love to take my laptop out to a bench in our backyard, near a small pond and creek. The trees provide just enough seclusion that I can become totally absorbed in a chapter. The sound of running water blocks out all other sounds and I can work for hours uninterrupted. But I can also jot down ideas and think through plot twists anywhere, anytime, from long car rides to waiting in line at a drive-through. When I am deep into a chapter, I find I have trouble shutting it off, and find myself visualizing images in the shower, eating dinner or filling the dishwasher. I love that writing historical fiction combines story-telling, creativity, research, and a love of history. I can become lost in researching a single detail, like buttons, or I can focus on the plot and a character's point of view--depending on my mood. It is challenging and rewarding at the same time. It is also extremely cathartic, giving me a peace I cant find in any other activity.
