Goodreads asked Pam Records:

How do you get inspired to write?

Pam Records I started writing before I could write. I took blank pieces of paper and crayons to my mother and told her what to write. I always had books and always found them grand doorways to other places. I wanted to create places where I could travel. Like many writers, I longed to escape from my world and retreat in a place where I could be alone, safe, and happy. My fifth grade teacher, Miss Whitaker, was the first one who told me I should consider a career in writing. She told me I could be a journalist. I immediately went to the library and checked out every book on journalism they had--all five! By high school I was scribbling in journals, writing melancholy poetry, and editing student publications. My first job was with a daily newspaper as a features writer. Eventually I migrated to marketing and copy writing for advertising. Then, back to writing articles on technology topics. "Tied with Twine" is my first work of fiction.
