HELP? I have a student who gobbled this book UP! She's read the sequel and loved it too. So my question is this: what other books would you recommend that are along the lines of this book in which a 6th voracious reader would enjoy. (If it's already a bestseller, she's probably already read it.) Bonus points if the main character is a girl. Extra bonus points if there are Middle Eastern/Muslim characters! Thanks

I would recommend The Land of Stories series, The love, sugar magic series, All the Answers, Miscalculations of Lightning Girl, Out of my Mind, Front Desk, Restart, The Unteachables, and, A Tale of Magic!

Double-check the age-appropriateness on these, but I'd think Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor (Leopard people mythology of Nigeria) and The Jewel and her Lapidary (more fantasy) would be great now and the Genie Lo books by F.C. Yee (Chinese mythology) and Rebel of the Sands by Alwyn Hamilton (fantasy world analagous to Arabia) in a few years. All have strong female protagonists. I found some of these authors from A Tyranny of Petticoats and The Radical Element - short story collections, some of which are probably age-appropriate, and all of which are awesome!

Has she read any of Riordan's? Also check out the Serafina series, the Land of Stories series, the Michael Vey series, the Keepers of the Lost Cities series, and the Mysterious Benedict society series. A Series of Unfortunate events is a good one, too. Hope that helps! I'm glad she's had so much fun reading! 📚
