Lo Hilarious question! I do think the book is intended to be set in a world where Cloud actually overtook and destroyed Amazon, though -- it's not just a…moreHilarious question! I do think the book is intended to be set in a world where Cloud actually overtook and destroyed Amazon, though -- it's not just a stand-in. Gibson's blog mentions an earlier company before Cloud that isn't named, but is clearly Amazon, and how they didn't think big enough.

While "a horror book about Amazon" is the whole reason I picked this up (yes, please!), it does seem to touch on larger themes about regulation being bad for business that go pretty far beyond Amazon. I didn't quite expect that. (less)
