Shayla Ryanne Try "The Inheritance Games," also by Jennifer Lynn Barnes. It's a trilogy, has a lot of mystery to it (just not serial killers,) and also has the romance as a kind of side plot. Also probably look at the Mara Dyer trilogy if you're into the creepy, dark stuff, but as a full warning, it does get pretty graphic (sexually) in the last book and accompanying series. If you haven't read the e-novella (Twelve) that goes with The Naturals series, I would say to read that too. Hope this helps!
