Diane Weinmann
Diane Weinmann asked Victoria Hamilton:

I have written non fiction but I really love murder mysteries and want to write one but I don't know how to come up with the mystery..how do you come up with your story lines?

Victoria Hamilton That's a tough one to answer. I'd start by reading books specifically for aspiring mystery writers, like Gillian Roberts excellent You Can Write a Mystery. You can even start by using her advice on her webpage: http://www.gillianroberts.com/writing...

In most cases you go from your solution backwards... in other words, you explain a murder, then figure out all the clues and suspects, then start at the beginning writing, laying the clues in as you go.

I hope this helps!
