How long did it take you to write Ask Again, Yes, and were there any significant changes of direction that took the story on a different trajectory/towards a different conclusion than where you originally thought it would end up?

I never have any idea where my books are going to end up, and while writing the whole second half I really didn't know whether Kate and Pete would stay together. So I spent that time feeling nervous, and also very curious to know. It took four years to write, and in that time I changed the structure and the point of view at least half a dozen times. For me, finding the right point of view is always the biggest struggle.

I love your writing. In your book ASK AGAIN, YES, I love the way you fearlessly delve into the subject of alcoholism in all of its forms. In one of your comments, you share that you have some personal experience in this. I, too, grew up in a household where alcohol was prominently situated in our daily routines. Have you written anything more about growing up this way?

I don’t have a question - I just want to thank you for a wonderful read!! There is a wonderful book store in Glen Arbor, Michigan called the Cottage Book Store. I work at the post office in Cedar, MI but fill in at other offices, and whenever I am in Glen Arbor, I can walk in and tell Sue - I need a book. She’s never steered me wrong, especially with your book. I laughed and I cried - and it just made me so happy!!?
