I'm convinced there's no one solution. It's like hiccups: everyone has their own cure.
Mine is that I put something on the page. Even if I know it's rough. Even if I know I'll want to change it later.
And it might not even be in order. If I know what one character wants to say before I know what they're doing or wearing (or who else is in the room), I do that bit first. Then as I get that down, the rest usually comes into focus.

Hi Eve, I really enjoyed this first book. I like it that it has a cookie whisperer so to speak since Kate can tell which cookie a person likes. I also like how you work with all town folk and how they come together to help her and Sam out. I am looking forward to your next book in April. If you need a reviewer I would be more than happy to do that? Did you base the small town on one you remember?
