Firstly I wanted to thank you CNV (which I LOVED - years after reading it, it's still a firm favourite) for getting me interested in the RAF/pilots in the war. Can you recommend any books (fiction or non-fiction) on a similar topic that I might enjoy? Also, which of your characters do you particularly see yourself in?
Elizabeth Wein
I'm so glad you loved CNV - you are most welcome! Flygirl by Sherri Smith is about a US woman pilot - you might also like Gwen Katz's Among the Red Stars, which is about Russian women pilots. I personally loved Tuesday's War by David Fiddimore, which is about a Lancaster bomber crew (fiction), and recently, Six Weeks of Blenheim Summer by Alistair Panton (non-fiction), about a pilot in a light bomber during the Battle of France in 1940. Hope this helps!
I am stunningly unlike most of my characters - more like I aspire to be them. But I think that in CNV, I am probably most like Anna Engel - doing her job and gradually feeling more and more uncomfortable about which side she's on. She is the least glamorous and the least morally sound of any of the characters, but she makes the "right" decision in the end, which may be harder for her than for some of the other characters. I like to think I'd be able to do that, too.
Enjoy the reading!
Best wishes, e wein

This isn't a question, but I wanted to truly thank you for writing a real love story in 'Code Name Verity'. Friendships like those are even more important than romantic ones, and are written so little about in fiction, making it so much more beautiful. And Julie and Maddie outdo any love story. So yeah, thanks! (?)

Absolutely loved "Fire" and "No Human Hands to Touch"! Your work and characters are incredible! Any chance we could get more of Lleu, Artos, Morgause, and her sons before Camlan's fall? I'm hooked and dying for more! If not, any insights into your creative process for Camlan and its characters would be awesome! Thanks a ton for creating such an amazing world and characters!
