Your WWII novels are beautiful and so well-researched. Would you ever consider writing historical fiction from a different time period? And if so, what other time periods would you like to write about most?

Elizabeth Wein I write historical fiction from lots of different time periods! My first five books are set in the 6th century AD - The Winter Prince is in post-Roman Britain and the next four books are set in ancient Ethiopia and Yemen. I have also written short stories set in 17th century England and 18th century Jamaica, as well as in the present day.

I do like the innovations of the 20th century - it was very liberating for me to write about WWII after spending all that time in the Dark Ages! I would probably enjoy writing about Roman times if I started researching a new period.
