A Goodreads user asked Elizabeth Camden:

Hi, I have noticed a lot of your inspiration comes from topics you research (being a college librarian), but I was curious as to what gave you the idea for 'Until the Dawn', it is a fascinating story with really complex characters and a twist I certainly didn't see coming. So I was wondering what it was that started this idea? Thanks :)

Elizabeth Camden Great question! Yes, I was inspired by working on a college campus for this one. I work alongside a ton of really wonderful, smart, and terrific college professors. Some are deeply religious, but most aren't. I wanted to write a story about how a highly logical man (Quentin, the hero) who associated religion with small-minded superstition, could come to appreciate that the universe is a lot bigger and more complex than he knows.

This is why I brought in a whole troop of college professors for the second half of the novel. Some have open minds and can appreciate there are mysteries of the universe the human mind may be too small to grasp.....but others are convinced the answers can all be found in science.

This was my starting point. From there I had to come up with a setting, a heroine, and a cool storyline that could provoke a centuries-old mystery.....but I started with the idea of a gang of professors batting around the faith discussion.

Thanks for your question!
