This is an interview called Meet the Writers - Tom Franklin by Barnes & Noble where he explains some of the book. Concerning the title, my main takeaway was that he just liked the way it sounded, hence why it takes place in Mississippi. But I really like Lisa's interpretation of it, that's my head canon from now on.(less)
