When did you decide to be an author?

Jennifer A. Nielsen I always loved writing - it just never occurred to me that author was a career I could choose. I figured that was a career for special people living other lives than my very ordinary life. I didn't decide to try to get published until I was an adult. I wish I had known when I was much younger that it was a choice open to me. I'd be miles ahead in my career if I'd known that.
