I have often read that Sir Arthur Conan Doyle became resentful of his character's, Sherlock Holmes, popularity. Do you ever feel that way about Agatha or Hamish? Are there other books that you would rather write instead?

M.C. Beaton No, I am not like Conan Doyle. I am not in love with my characters so I never get fed up with them. I haven’t thought of writing anything else because this is the very best I can do.

Why is Agatha so emotionally invested in finding a husband? Overall she doesn't seem to be a very sentimental person. She's had so many relationships that have turned into train wrecks, but as soon she meets the latest newcomer to the area she starts envisioning wedding bells. But I guess hope springs eternal...
