How can our characters find the answer to a problem if we don't know the answer?

I'm not sure they can, Valerie. I remember once thinking during the writing of The False Prince that I might have created a character who is smarter than I am. So it might look like he comes up with an answer in a matter of seconds, but in reality, it took me three weeks to think of it!
