Maureen I think that was part of the point - that the pivotal men in the story, men with power, should have been men that women could trust to respect them and treat them well, and they didn't. The stuff of today's headlines, unfortunately. The teenage son bravely stood up for his mother, and the other men in the law firm, though minor characters, were portrayed as ordinary helpful people.
Erin Her friend Robert was a decent guy.

David Hall I havent finished yet, but carl's character seems to be a product of the main characters actions. they had a good relationship but there is a lot of lack of trust in that relationship... too many drunken nights, too many let downs, losing tilly in the park. I'm not excusing his behavior, but I understand his frustration... Like I said, I havent finished.
