Better answers “Am I the only one who felt the ending was...”

Am I the only one who felt the ending was a bit of a cheat? I loved the book, especially because it wasn't a Grisham legal thriller. Loved the stuff about writers and booksellers. But when Cable shows Mercer the stolen books she doesn't act in any way that should "spook" him into immediately moving the books from the vault. The Feds show up the next day and the books are gone.

Better "when Cable shows Mercer the stolen books she doesn't act in any way that should "spook" him into immediately moving the books from the vault" = I fel…more"when Cable shows Mercer the stolen books she doesn't act in any way that should "spook" him into immediately moving the books from the vault" = I felt exactly the opposite way, and came here to see if anyone else noticed the VERY suspicious/odd way that Mercer over-reacted to seeing the manuscripts....I'm wondering WHY did she get all hsyterical like that? and then of COURSE Bruce would be alarmed by her reaction and immediately move the manuscript(less)
