Peyton Dillashaw asked P.C. Cast:

What is your best advice for a hopeful future author in regards to worrying over making sure a story is completely 100% original? I know it's nearly impossible to write an entire novel without SOMETHING of the plot having been done before, "hero's journey anyone?" but I seem to constantly block myself worrying about these things and end up with tons of half finished stories.

P.C. Cast There is no silver bullet to make this work for you. My advice is that you're either an author or you're not. Non-authors block themselves constantly with what ifs. If you can't put that crap aside and write then being an author is the wrong job for you. Just like being a veterinarian was the wrong job for me because I couldn't get over the poop and parasites. Not everyone can be a veterinarian, no matter how much I/they love animals. Just like not everyone can be a career author, no matter how much you/they love books. Know yourself - that's the key.
