Wer…moreI agree this is one of the many plot holes in the book. I suppose the original family might not have reported it. But didn't the kid go to school? Weren't there any neighbors? When it comes to that, how did the original Aimee die and get buried and then magically return without anyone knowing about that, either? It's hard to believe that if a child turned up in a horrible shootout in England -- a crime so outre that it must have been front-page news -- no one would realize, in the course of the research that must have gone on to figure out if she had living relatives who could take her, that a similar child had vanished less than a year earlier.
