?The House on Mango Street reminds me of the movie Madea I can do bad all by myself. I say this because April and her husband were living in an apartment and it wasn't much but what made it worse was that she had to take in her niece and nephews due to the passing of her mother. This relates to Esperanza because this was their first home they've ever owned and it wasn't much but her mother had to make it work for them

I also found the book to be more thought provoking, and it made me question societal norms and opened my eyes to see another meaning behind things like high-heeled shoes. (less)
