Dianthaa asked:

I like the premise, but this sounds like it might have puppies getting killed, and I can't handle that, does it have dogs, cats or such getting killed?

Scott Deaths and injuries are not very graphic; they're all done on a very PG-rating level, especially for a zombie story. Since the main character is an animal, the other animals are treated more like characters who have their own motivations and goals rather than just set dressing as pets are in most other books. You're more likely to be bothered by the fact that it was *that character* that just died (possibly your favorite,) rather than the fact that they happened to be a cat or a dog.
Deanna Gates The story has a few animals killed but mostly animals rescued. The deaths, however, are not the result of extended pain or torture. I cannot deal with pain in animals but had no problem with this book.
Papaphilly The short answer, yes. The actual answer: there is death, but it is not graphic nor gratuitous.
Mike & Lori M Yes, but it has THE BEST funeral scene in any book I've ever read.
Betsie Bush While I loved the irreverence of this book, the animals dying and being killed is a big part of the story. You might want to avoid this one.

SPOILER: There is a big sad near the end.
Christy Wahl Bookmark doesthedogdie.com it is a fantastic resource for searching if there are any triggers or emotionally fraught scenes in books and movies. It's not just about animals dying, but things like child abuse, drug use, spiders ect. It's a fantastic resource for those of us that want to enjoy a book without our hearts being ripped out!
Katie I mean, I thought the scene that depicted babies turning into zombie creatures was WAY more upsetting.
Lithezebra Yes, I had a hard time with this.
Michelle Mazon Yes, animals are depicted as dead or alive...but it is a zombie apocalypse after all. I wouldn't expect anything of the latter. I didn't feel as though the descriptions were graphic or unnecessary. Totally weird book though.
Katy St. Clair There are characters-- animals-- being killed that you might be sad about.
