Substance abuse is intensely and graphically depicted throughout the novel and may be unsuitable for a 15-year old. For a 1,000+ page book there are few scenes of violence, however the 3 or 4 that do occur are extended, BRUTALLY GRAPHIC, and very possibly disturbing to a younger audience. Sexual content is referenced periodically throughout the novel, however never in graphic detail, and is usually limited to a PG-13 level. Also, as a note, there is strong language throughout.(less)
