I went through a period where I read nothing but Ellen Hopkins, which is mostly about drug addiction, rape, homophobia, sexual awakening, and child abuse. Age does not indicate maturity, you have to look at as a case by case basis. I've met some adults who couldn't handle Lolita while I met teenagers who come out of reading it without having a mental break down. (less)
