Mark Lawrence You can start with any of my trilogies, depending on which appeals most:

Prince of Thorns (dark, violent, first person male lead)

Prince of Fools (darkish but with humour too, first person male lead)

Red Sister (3rd person female lead - murder nuns!)

One Word Kill (sci-fi set in 80s London, Ready Player One meets Stranger Things .. kinda)
