I have recently started reading more historical fiction and this has got to be my favorite! I would love suggestions of read alike books. Everything is seeming to fall a bit flat after this one. Any suggestions?

Jody Vandiver Under a Scarlet Sky (WW2) is excellent. A Gentleman in Moscow is also great.
Kathryn in FL I would add to Diane's list -Yellow Crocus by Laila Ibrahim, it was a 5 star for me and I don't give those out much. I loved the Kitchen House. I enjoyed Call Your Daughter Home by Deb Spera set in the 1920's in SC is about the racial disparities that continue to exist in the South.
Diane Kavalauskas I also enjoy historical fiction. I haven't read The Indigo Girl, but other historical fiction books set in a similar time period that I enjoyed are The Invention of Wings (Sue Monk Kid), The House Girl (Tara Conklin), and The Kitchen House (Kathleen Grissom). Three other books set in more recent time periods but covering racial inequalities are Calling Me Home (Julie Kibler), The Secret Life of Bees (also by Sue Monk Kid), and The Help (Kathryn Stockett).

I also enjoy books set during World War II, and several I would recommend are All the Light We Cannot See (Anthony Doerr), The Book Thief (Markus Zusak), The Nightingale (Kristin Hannah), and Those Who Save Us (Jenna Blum).
Lucy Hi, Yes once I discovered HF (historical fiction) there was no going back. A recent favorite of mine is The Moonlight School by Fischer which is set in Kentucky in 1911. And for a WWII favorite, I recommend The Light in Hidden Places by Cameron.
Ron I just want to "double down" on "A Gentleman in Moscow". It was extremely entertaining!
Betsy Schweers If you Google Indigo Girl "they" will recommend other books if you liked Indigo Girl.
