Karen Dustman
Karen Dustman asked Susan Hunter:

I just discovered Dangerous Habits, the first book in your series, and I'm loving your writing! What took you from hard nonfiction/reporting into writing fiction?

Susan Hunter Hi Karen, I'm so happy you're enjoying Dangerous Habits. I've always been an avid reader of fiction (mysteries being my favorite) and I thought about trying my hand, but for a long time I wasn't brave enough. I was afraid I didn't have enough imagination, afraid I couldn't write believable characters, afraid I wasn't good enough to write something entirely out of my imagination. In short, I was afraid of failing. Then several unexpected and difficult losses happened in my life, and I realized that I was wasting the time I had worrying about failure, instead of just doing what I really wanted and needed to do. So I jumped in the deep end of the pool and came out with Dangerous Habits. I learned a lot, I continue to learn more, and my hope is to get better with each new book. Thanks for asking--you started my morning off thinking, instead of my usual staring into space and wishing someone would bring me cookies. ;-)
