I am a charter member of Introverts International (which meets the 12th of Never at an undisclosed location).I've worked as a reporter and managing editor, during which time I received a first place UPI award for investigative reporting and a Michigan Press Association first place award for enterprise/feature reporting. Which for someone whose previous award history consisted of 3rd place in the 50-yard-dash, when there were only 3 runners, was a pretty big deal.

I've also taught composition at the college level, written advertising copy, newsletters, press releases, speeches, web copy, academic papers and memos. Lots and lots of memos. I live in rural Michigan with her husband Gary, who is a man of action, not words.

I've always been an avid reader of fiction (mysteries being my favorite) and I thought about trying my hand, but for a long time I wasn't brave enough. I was afraid I didn't have enough imagination, afraid I couldn't write believable characters, afraid I wasn't good enough to write something entirely out of my imagination. In short, I was afraid of failing. Then several unexpected and difficult losses happened in my life, and I realized that I was wasting the time I had worrying about failure, instead of just doing what I really wanted and needed to do. So I jumped in the deep end of the pool and came out with Dangerous Habits. I learned a lot, I continue to learn more, and my hope is to get better with each new book. Thanks for asking--you started my morning off thinking, instead of my usual staring into space and wishing someone would bring me cookies. ;-)(less)

Hi Sue,

I'll be putting Dangerous Ground (Book 6) up for pre-order as soon as I finish the draft and it's in revision. I could do it with dummy copy well in advance of that, but it feels like tempting fate to me to offer it for sale before it's done. (I'm more cautious than Leah). I'll send a notice to people on the Leah Nash Mysteries email list, and also post the information on my website and the Leah Nash facebook page as well. Thanks for asking!(less)

A Loving Heart

From the desk in my office I can look out across the river. When I do, my eyes are always drawn to a small clearing in the woods on the opposite side. Sometimes, if I stare really hard, I can almost see my friend Irene standing there. We took a  long, meandering walk at least […]

Dangerous Habits by Susan Hunter
"Great first in a series

I really enjoyed this book ... the pacing, the characters, and most of all, the writing. Written by someone who knows the craft, it’s tight and carries you along effortlessly in the story. And the characters aren’t perfect - wh" Read more of this review »

Dangerous Habits by Susan Hunter
"Dangerous Habits by Susan Hunter is the first book in the Leah Nash mystery series. I wouldn't call this a cozy mystery book, but a regular mystery. There's a lot more action, as well as some situations that wouldn't occur in a cozy mystery.
