What's your advice to new authors - should they try and find a completely original idea, or is it OK to build on the foundations laid down by those going before ?

Hey! Hope you are doing well.
I always tell people to have fun with what they are writing. For example, don't try to write a zombie book (or something else) just because those types of books are popular right now. If you don't like zombies, then that will show in your finished book.
If you write about a character or genre that you are truly interested in, then that will hopefully make your book better right from the start and will show in the finished product.

Just finished reading the the last book of Mythos Academy Series. I have never been so emotional about an ending of a book series. Just wanted to say Huuuuuuuuuge round of applause to you Jennifer for such amazing writing skills and bringing the characters to live so vividly. Thank You, for such a wonderful reading experience!
