Goodreads asked Aidan O'Rourke:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Aidan O'Rourke I don't get writer's block. Ideas develop in my head, in a process involving daydreaming. The characters, situations, plot become real and I keep thinking about them before I ever put 'pen to paper' or start to type on my computer. I will often start in the middle or at the end, or I will write a chapter by chapter outline before fleshing out particular chapters. I never ever start from the beginning without any story. I think that's what causes writer's block, not knowing what you are supposed to be writing. I always have a detailed outline in my head or I have a diagram or overview on paper, before starting to write. And then I re-write and re-write again. The very last part of Stargirl of the Edge I did was the very first chapter!
