Jim asked:

how much of the book is "something romantic"? the premise sound intriguing, but i tend to not enjoy lots of romance in books...

Patrick Stirling I don't think of this as a Romance in the usual sense. More a meeting of the minds across a divide. Two beings who fall in love in a real sense, but are also physically separated. A love where gender is irrelevant.
Liz Busby I would say that the main focus of this book is the romance. It's a well done romance, but being someone who isn't a romance reader either, I found it kind of boring. The world building is out of focus and secondary; you can't really read the book just looking at the world.
Dan Mackison This is a Romance novel with a capital R. Two rivals start writing letters to each other and fall in love. Everything else is backdrop.
