A (rare) random flash of inspiration I think. Originally Granddad was going to have a generic "magic sword" of some sort but I really didn't want Trev going around stabbing people as it didn't fit the humorous tone I was going for! So I tried to come up with a weapon that could be powerful but also non-lethal if required, and the idea of a "ghost sword" came to me...
