So I'm turning 28 soon (always thought I'd die before I got old, not that 28 is OLD, but my youth has been all but spent) & I'm an aspiring author who's filled journals with bits & pieces of different novels that I grew to hate & left fallow. My problem, I think, is the organic pairing of a message & story. I'm all mismatched socks & wisdom's not coming with age for me. Do you have any you could spare on the subject?

Who says your story has to have some profound, world-changing message? Just tell the truth and you'll blow minds. Just a simple truth about everyday life, about the world, about people. Something that has been said a billion times before. Something you believe strongly in, even if it's about how hard it is to finish projects, or the struggle to feel like you've done something with your life. Or that friendship is good. Anything, as long as it motivates you to see it through to the end. At this stage, that's all we're worried about, finding something you care enough about to stick with. You have an audience of one. Just write for yourself, see what happens.

Do you ever see yourself revealing in a John Dies at the End novel what the origin or source of Soy Sauce is?
Like, in the first book, it seems to be heavily tied with the minions of Korrok, but still seems to be a different thing with its own motivations.
Then, in the third book, we learn about its mysterious ties with "Min", seemingly related to the Egyptian fertility god. Will the audience ever know more?
